Binder – Dominican

I am starting to really love AVO cigars, they have really put out some good stuff over the last few years and only getting better. Also one of my favorite sizes is a perfecto, so that just made this one that much better. Very smooth cigar with many flavor changes along the way. Fired this one up with good Ol Papa Jon in the Sultans Smoke Barn. These are great smokes and I really have never had a AVO that I didn’t think was good. I would recommend trying any of them and see which one works best for you.

Classic covers vol 2 By AVO

Rating – (7) Rambo
Strength – (3) Sly
Vitola –
Price – $15
Wrapper – Ecuadorian 702 Marron
Binder – Mexican
Filler – Dominican Republic and Nicaragua
Drink – Dr. Pepper

I would like to start off by saying that I smoked the Vol 1 a few weeks ago and really enjoyed it but this one I think was even better. A very smooth complex cigar that I discribed as fitting very well with some pretzels (not sure if I was just hungry or what) I would suggest you pick one of these up, they are a little on the pricy side of things but a limited product and worth it for a one time deal for sure.

Syncro Nicaragua by AVO

Rating – (7) Rambo
Strength – (2-3) Demi
Vitola – Toro
Price – $10
Wrapper – Ecuador
Binder – Dominican Republic
Filler – Nicaragua, Dominican, Peru
Drink – Dr. Pepper slushy

I have been looking for this new AVO since I heard about it and finally got my hands on them. This cigar just looks amazing and let me tell you it was. The box press on this one is perfect, first light the draw was smooth, complex flavors and wonderful smoke to match. I would recommend trying this one, it’s worth the price for sure and they make it in a smaller size too.

Limited Edition 2015 Classic Covers by Avo

Price – $16 at Casa de Montecristo
Beverage – Water
Size – Toro (6 X 50)
Strength – Sly (3/4)
Rating – Expendables (8/10)

Tale of the Tape:
Wrapper: Ecuadorian
Binder: Mexican San Andres
Filler: Nicaraguan/Dominican

I’m sure soon enough there will be some really in depth review on this cigar and will include far more detail than I will provide here. However, here are my quick thoughts for those that just want to know if this is worth the price tag:

1) Impeccable construction, great burn, easy draw

2) This cigar is no joke, easily a Sly for me, could be an Arnold for some…bring your big boy/girl pants before firing this up

3) The best way to describe the taste is a wonderful, rich, tobacco taste. The LE 2015 reminded me of a better Caldwell Long Live the King.

4) My smoke time was one hour and thirty minutes

Now to the two questions:

Would I smoke it again? Yes

Would I give it humidor space? Yes – I smoked one and went back to Casa to buy a couple more the next weekend

In my opinion the whole Avo brand doesn’t get the recognition or praise that it deserves and this offering is another example of their wonderful cigars. The price tag on the LE might scare some folks and as our readers know, we try to always take price into consideration so you can maximize your cigar allowance. In this instance, you’re looking at a very limited cigar that is an absolutely amazing smoke, don’t let the price tag deter you, give these a shot.

Until next time my friends!

Heritage by Avo

Price – $10 (Stupid Cook County Taxes)
Beverage – Dr. Pepper
Size – Toro (6 X 50)
Strength – Demi (2/4)
Rating – Sabotage (6/10)

This was my first AVO and Drew has been telling me how I need to try this brand. So I’m at Hollywood Smokes and a guy named Anthony suggested that I try the Heritage so here are my thoughts:

1) Excellent burn, good construction, easy draw

2) Low level Demi, not mild, but not stronger than a medium in my opinion. I would think most cigar smokers would have no problem handling this cigar.

3) I found this to be a rather creamy cigar which I enjoyed

Now to the two questions:

Would I smoke it again? Yes

Would I give it humidor space? On the surface it’s humidor worthy, but the price point is a stickler here and I believe you can get cigars just as good for a couple dollars less. I am going to keep this as an in store smoke for when I want something smooth and medium bodied, so no humidor space on this one.

Bottom line, this is a good solid smoke with excellent construction and good flavor. However, at $10 you want more than solid when stocking your humidor and as such it’s good enough to smoke again, but I wouldn’t devote space to it. Anthony, thank you for the recommendation and thanks for visiting our blog brother!

AVO Maduro by AVO

Rating – (8) Expendables
Strength – (2-3) Sly
Price – $10.20
Drink – Ginger Ale

On first light up this cigar has amazing potential. I picked this one up again as a recommendation from Jeff. This has been a wonderful morning smoke with great flavor. This cigar reminds me a lot of the Sassy (Cigar Dojo), it has lot of the same flavors and fullness to it. The cigar itself is wonderful in its appearance, nice dark wrapper, the band is simple. I will be smoking these again and I will say that you should defiantly try these out. They are worth the price tag.
