Price – Compliments of Hassan
Strength – Demi (2/4)
Rating – Sabotage (6/10)
Thanksgiving night after I wrap up my Padron, Hassan asks if I’ve ever tried their brand of cigars that are rolled by 708 and branded for Hollywood Smokes and I reply that I haven’t.
Hassan generously gives me one to try and I fire it up and am instantly surprised. I figured it had a chance to be good since it was rolled by 708 and it did not disappoint. It was definitely smooth, well constructed, and a little on the stronger side which I typically prefer. If I had to compare it to anything, it would be a little lighter Luchador, part 708 Maduro, and a little less tasty Sarsaparilla made by La Zona exclusively for Cigar Dojo (you can see Drew’s review on that). These retail at Hollywood Smokes for $8 and in my opinion, a really good stick for the price. So now for the two questions:
Would I smoke it again? Yes
Would I devote humidor space? Not sure on that yet, but in all likelihood this would be a cigar that I would buy and smoke while hanging out at Hollywood Smokes. Now If I couldn’t get to Hollywood Smokes whenever I wanted, then ya, I’d pick up a couple extra at $8 and put away as a go to cigar. I will say that I think a little age might help this cigar as well.
This cigar may lack brand recognition and a fancy band, but it’s a solid smoke at a great price. It’s also rolled by Zade at 708 Cigars so the pedigree is in place. If you have a chance, give it a shot, I think you will like them.
If you would like to purchase of a box of these, please contact Hassan or Hussein @ (708) 444-4720 and reference the Sultans of Smoke!
