I picked up the Jailbreak a little over three months ago at Casa de Montecristo and finally got around to firing it up. This cigar employs a really unique concept in that there is a full lancero tucked inside the cigar. This was my first time smoking one of Viva Republica’s offerings, here are my thoughts:
1) Good burn, construction, and draw
2) Overall, I’d call the Jailbreak a medium cigar, but I see how it might be a bit stouter for some smokers.
3) I tasted some caramel, pepper, and what I would call a Wheaties like (yes, the cereal) taste.
4) My smoke time was a solid two hours
Now to the two questions:
Would I smoke it again? Yes
Would I give it humidor space? Yes
What Viva did with this cigar is really cool and unlike anything I have seen before, so it gets points for originality and novelty. Although I’m not crazy about the price point, this is a good cigar and worth keeping some around for when you want a longer, medium smoke.
